56 | A Decluttered and Organized Closet with Sarah Horgan
Tuesday May 21, 2024
Tuesday May 21, 2024
In this episode of the Organized Coach Podcast, I discuss organizing your closet and creating a wardrobe with insights from guest Sarah Horgan.
Sarah is a full-time working mom + wife who lived with clutter and found her way to the other side. She radically changed her own life after a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Forced to examine everything, including her perfectionism and people-pleasing, she realized all the stuff (and not just the physical stuff) was standing in her way of living her life, her way.
After embracing minimalism and finding her way to simplicity, Sarah started Simple + Intentional to support other women in doing the same. She encourages and inspires others through her blog, Instagram account, and podcast.
Sarah lives in Toronto with her husband and daughter. She loves the outdoors, a strong cup of tea, and is following her dream of writing a book!
In this episode, Sarah shares her personal journey. She emphasizes that decluttering is not about the stuff but about understanding our buying behaviors and the psychology behind clutter. We focus on the importance of an organized wardrobe, offering practical tips for decluttering and organizing clothes to reduce decision fatigue and enhance personal style.
We also delve into the relationship between our belongings and self-perception, advocating for a mindful approach to consumerism and the benefits of a minimalistic lifestyle.
Sarah provides specific strategies for building a versatile, comfortable, and loved wardrobe that aligns with personal style and body image, ultimately promoting self-care and a more organized life.
Some things to listen for that really impacted me:
- Don't start your day with negative thoughts.
- You can't out-organize too much stuff.
- Decluttering and organizing is a form of self-care.
- Clutter is never about the stuff. It's about our buying behaviors, our emotions, and our comfort.
- Our brains are wired for scarcity. We are teaching our brains to think differently.
- Sarah defines an organized wardrobe in three parts.
- You can declutter for real, or you can fake it. This will help you get started!
- Depending on your season, take it as far as you have the capacity to.
- Don't be tempted to buy things that are "okay." Invest in "amazing."
From our conversation, I'm doing the following to create an easy closet I love to walk into every morning:
- Choosing my favorite items - analyze what I love about them.
- Decluttering my closet by category. (jeans, tanks, t-shirts)
- Managing my impulsivity. Being okay with the wait. Practicing the pause.
- Adding a tab to my Idea Tracker with brands I love, things I want to invest in (missing pieces of a minimalistic wardrobe), etc.

54 | Make More Money With These 10 Questions
Tuesday May 07, 2024
Tuesday May 07, 2024
Ever wonder how to make more money with just one thought? One belief?
My coach shared that she saw results with the thought, “The more I love myself, the more money I make.”
It's making a difference in how she feels and, therefore, the actions she takes and the results she is having.
A form of this thought that really got me excited was, "The more I love my offer, the more money I make."
I already believed this because I knew that if I really loved my offer, I would show up with more excitement, share often, and talk about it with more energy. And if I loved my offer, my students would love it as well.
But I also knew that I could love my offer even more!
So, I came up with ten questions - journal entries or thought prompts - that I could use to FALL MORE IN LOVE with my offer.
Listen to this week's episode as I go through the questions using my offer of Organized Coach Academy as an example.
Here are the 10 questions to prompt you to love your offer more.
(If you don't have an "offer," you can tweak these questions to help you fall more in love with yourself, your body, your home, your wardrobe, etc.)
- How does your offer help people?
- What is great about your offer?
- How are you the perfect person to help your clients using this offer?
- Why would someone want to invest in this offer? (their outcome)
- What is the best part about this offer?
- What do you love most about this offer?
- What results have people gotten from this offer?
- What don’t people realize about your offer?
- What don’t you like about your offer? How could you solve this?
- How will I execute this? What is my next step?
Let me know how you use these questions to love your offer and how that changes your results.
Your organizing coach,
Tracy Hoth

52 | My personal life story
Tuesday Apr 23, 2024
Tuesday Apr 23, 2024
Have you signed up for the Value Workshop with Caryn Gillen yet? If not, register here.
After a year of podcasting, I thought sharing a little about me would be fun so you know who I am.
Well, get ready. I started from the beginning and gave you a chronological overview of my entire life. 🤣
I share about my childhood in Minnesota, the big move, high school in El Paso, Texas, and college in Denton, Texas. Then, my "be-crazy-before-I-get-tied-down" decision to move to California, where I made a defining decision that changed the course of my life. Then, I moved to Kansas City, Missouri, to work as the Girl's Program Director in an inner-city ministry. In Kansas City, met my husband, and we grew our family.
Life was so good. I recognize and continue to see the blessings I was given in my life - things I had no control over and others I worked hard for and chose.
In 2016 came the hardest challenge of our lives - my son's c5-c6 spinal cord injury.
I share how I started my organizing business, how life coaching came into my life, my decision to get certified, and how I transitioned my business to fully coaching online and then changed my niche to helping coaches organize their businesses.
Whew! I go through it quickly.
Hopefully, you feel like a friend now!
I'd love to hear your story. Tag me on Instagram to share your story or ask me questions. Maybe I'll do a follow-up "get to know me" episode in the future.

Tuesday Apr 16, 2024
Guess what! Caryn has offered to host a Values Workshop for my listeners and students! You won't want to miss this. Register now by clicking here.
Caryn Gillen helps coaches build spacious lives and businesses so they can live the dream they had when they first became coaches.
I was honored to have this casual conversation with her for this episode, during which I had so many aha moments as we talked about values and how they shape our businesses. Plus, I asked all the questions to get her take on how we use values to organize everything from our digital files to our processes and decisions.
The key moments in this episode are:
- What are values? Where do they come from? Caryn defines "values."
- How do we figure out what our values are? Caryn shares two questions to ask yourself:
- When was there a time in my life when I felt out of alignment? Angered? Stuck?
- When was there a time in my life when I was totally in flow? Electric?
- How do our values manifest in our business, and what is the best way to intentionally use them?
- How do we use values as we coach our clients?
- What do I do when two values come up against each other?
- Caryn is a master at asking questions. She shares some intriguing ways to help yourself and your clients.
- The itchy sweater exercise... so good!
Some of my favorite things she says are:
"Someday is here!"
Cozy pants.
"Values are here for you to expand."
